Day 12 -13 Thimphu Area

Day 12 Wednesday Oct. 7 Wangdue to Thimphu (day hike to Tashigang monastery)

After an early breakfast we will be driven to Thimphu . The drive is about 3 hours. On the way we will stop in Hongtsho. We will hike Trashigang Goemba (3200m). The hike is about three hours from the hillside below Hongtsho. The monastery was built in 1786 by the 12th Je-Khenpo. It is an important meditation center, and there are numerous houses for pilgrim near the goemba. Overnight in Thimphu Hotel Dragon Roots

 

Day 13 Thursday Oct. 8 Thimphu sightseeing

1)-- King's Memorial Chorten

2)-- Changgangkha Monastery

3)-- Taken reserve to see the national animal

4)-- Radio tower to for the view of Thimphu valley

5)-- School of Arts and Crafts (also known as the painting school)

6)-- Folk Heritage Museum and Spinning wheel

7)-- Traditional medical college

8)-- Weaving center in Changzamtok

9)-- Traditional paper factory

10)-- Thimphu Dzong and Simtokha Dzong (the oldest fortress in the kingdom).

 

Looks like going to be a very busy day or may be a lot of drive about with quick stops.  We will see how that will work out.
